JDV Conducting dress rehearsal.jpg

Canterbury Choral Society concluded its 72rd year on Sunday, April 21, 2024 with its first-ever performance of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, featuring soprano soloist Hannah Spierman, bass soloist James C. Harris, and tenor soloist Blake Friedman, conducted by Jonathan De Vries, Artistic Director.

A double piano, organ and timpani orchestra also performed, to a sell-out crowd.

Carmina Burana

We were excited to present some of choral music’s most identifiable tunes ever written. Carmina Burana is a thoroughly compelling and dynamic work with a special orchestration featuring double piano, organ and timpani which includes a Rosewood Xylophone, three Glockenspiels, large chimes, Sleigh Bells, a Ratchet, Bell Plate, Castanetts and more!

The performance is Sunday, April 21, 2024 at 4:00. It runs about an hour and fifteen minutes, with no intermission, and will conclude with a complementary reception and light refreshments in Darlington Hall.
